One in every seven Americans are food insecure. Food insecurity could happen to anyone, it could be a child, college student, a family facing overwhelming medical issues, or an elderly neighbor. Compassion Coalition and Your Bargain Grocer work daily in tandem to help reduce the number of those in our local communities who are food insecure. With 40% of food wasted in America, we believe no person should go hungry. We don’t have a hunger problem; we have a waste problem in America.
Your Bargain Grocer works with national and local vendors to supply our community based grocery store with healthy, wholesome product at greatly reduced prices. In 2015 a local EBT study showed that Your Bargain Grocer extended the buying power of those on EBT in Oneida County by 35%! We believe that everyone should have access to healthy, wholesome food.
Compassion Coalition works with food pantries and local not-for-profits to distribute reclaimed food to supplement food pantries. This program runs once a month through our not for profit partners.
